Abstract

In August 2024, Samarinda Municipality experienced year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation of 1.98 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.19.

The y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices indicated by an increase in almost all expenditure group indices, namely the food, beverage, and tobacco group by 3.95 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 2.43 percent; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.38 percent; the health group by 3.30 percent; the transportation group by 0.21 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 1.87 percent; the education group by 1.87 percent; the food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 1.96 percent; the household equipment, tools, and routine maintenance group by 0.35 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 4.54 percent. In addition, there was one expenditure group that experienced deflation, namely the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.58 percent.

The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate of Samarinda Municipality in August 2024 were 0.01 percent and 1.06 percent, respectively.
