Consumer Price Index and Inflation or Samarinda City 2015

Consumer Price Index (CPI) is one of the important economic indicators that can provide information on the development of prices of goods / services paid by consumers. CPI calculation is intended to determine changes in the price of a fixed group of goods / services that are generally consumed by the public. CPI change from time to time describe the rate of increase (inflation) or the rate of decrease (deflation) of the goods / services of daily household needs. Increases or decreases in the price of goods / services have a close relationship with the purchasing power of money owned by the public, especially those who earn fixed. The rate of change in CPI (inflation / deflation) happened, by itself reflects the purchasing power of the money used by the society to meet their daily needs. The higher the inflation, the lower the value of money and the lower purchasing power. Three towns in the province of East Kalimantan, calculated inflation is Tarakan, Balikpapan and Samarinda in 2015 have each experienced an inflation of 11.91 per cent; 7.43 percent; and 6.74 percent which all three of rank 3, 60, and 75 nationally.
