National Labour Force Survey (Sakernas) Enumerator Training, February 2025

BPS-Statistics Samarinda Municipality conducted enumerator training for the February 2025 National Labour Force Survey (Sakernas) on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 21–22. Held at the BPS-Statistics Samarinda Municipality office, the training aimed to ensure that enumerators thoroughly understood the concepts, definitions, methodology, and their roles and responsibilities in implementing Sakernas.

Sakernas is a survey specifically designed to continuously collect employment data. The data and indicators derived from Sakernas play a crucial role in supporting development, serving as a vital resource for planning, monitoring, and evaluating government programs, particularly in the employment sector across various fields.

The Directorate of Population and Employment Statistics has developed the February 2025 Sakernas questionnaire based on the latest resolutions from the 19th, 20th, and 21st International Conference of Labor Statisticians (ICLS), which are the most recent references from the International Labor Organization (ILO). However, the questionnaire also retains elements from the 13th ICLS Resolution to preserve the data series and fulfill the requirements for employment data releases that still use the older employment concept.

In addition to updates to the questionnaire, the February 2025 Sakernas introduces changes to the data collection period and methodology. The frequency of Sakernas implementation has been increased to capture employment dynamics more effectively. Starting in 2025, Sakernas will be conducted quarterly, in February, May, August, and November.

Another significant change is the adoption of a panel rotation sampling methodology for three years (2025–2027). The February 2025 Sakernas will cover a sample of 76,800 households across Indonesia, ensuring the production of representative data at the provincial level.
